General
We recommend that every boat owner take out liability insurance as basic cover. The more valuable your boat, the more important it is to have additional hull insurance to cover any damage. Accident insurance is a sensible addition to cover for the skipper and his crew.
The cost of boat insurance is determined by many different factors. For liability insurance, size and performance play a particularly important role. The price of boat hull insurance is determined, among other things, by the selected insured value and the actual scope of cover. In our quote calculator, you can easily select your desired options to see how they affect the price.
Fishing boats, dinghies, sports boats, jet skis, steel displacement craft, catamarans and, of course, sailing and motor yachts up to 60 feet and a maximum sum insured of €500,000 can be insured. Many standard boats are already included in our boat database. This makes it even easier and quicker for you to get your insurance quote.
We do not insure boats that have undergone structural modifications that lead to significant deviations from the original concept, applicable building regulations and certifications of the series-produced vessel. Examples include rig modifications, drive conversions or modifications to the hull structure.
Our boat insurance is subject to a fixed cruising area that depends on the length of your boat:
Cruising areas for boats up to 6.45 metres in length
European (geographical) inland waters as well as the Baltic Sea, North Sea, Norwegian Sea and North Atlantic between latitudes 28° north and 67° north and longitudes 12° west and 30° east. Mediterranean Sea including Dardanelles and Sea of Marmara including Bosphorus, Strait of Gibraltar up to longitude 6° West, up to 20 nm from the coast.
The waters of Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia, the Black Sea and African continental waters are excluded.

Boat Hull Insurance
The more valuable your boat is, the more important it is to have hull insurance to cover any damage. Hull insurance therefore makes perfect sense to ensure that you are not stuck with the costs in the event of damage and can get back on the water quickly. In addition to the total loss of your boat, you can also insure against partial damage. Please also note that in many countries, e.g. Germany, there is no compulsory insurance for boats. This means that if your boat is damaged by a third party, liability insurance cannot always cover you. Private liability insurance does not usually cover damage to boats.
Hull insurance policies can vary greatly in price depending on their contents. We assess your boat individually in order to calculate fair conditions for the desired cover. Both the characteristics of your boat and the selected cover modules therefore have a major influence on your premium. A 4m fishing boat with an insured value of €6,500 can be insured for as little as €100 per year. For a sporty 32-foot sailing boat with an insured value of €45,000, comprehensive hull cover starts at an annual premium of around €400.
Yes, you can adjust the sums insured for your boat within set ranges. We will make you a proposal during the finalisation process based on our experience and the current market value.
Total loss is always included in the insurance. Partial damage, i.e. damage whose repair costs do not exceed the value of the boat, can also be included for an additional charge. You can insure the total loss with a fixed valuation (replacement value of the boat) or with a current value reimbursement. In the event of partial damage, reimbursement is possible with or without deductions for current value.
Yes, there is also comprehensive protection for winter storage on private property
Boat Liability Insurance
Every boat owner should have liability insurance. It protects against claims that can be made against the owner due to legal regulations. The amount of liability damage is incalculable! In many countries, marinas or regattas, boat liability insurance is even a prerequisite.
We offer you rates at fair conditions. The premium for liability insurance is therefore calculated on the one hand from your boat data, such as boat type, dimensions, performance, etc., and on the other hand from your selected options. For example, boat liability insurance for an optimist dinghy costs from €25 per year, for a 30-foot steel motor yacht from around €100 per year.
You can add skipper liability insurance to your boat liability insurance. You are then insured on other people's boat as a skipper.
Yes, the so-called "Blue Card" serves as proof. This is available at your Yachting24 client login and can be downloaded there.
Personal Accident Insurance
Personal Accident Insurance makes sense if you want to protect yourself and your crew, e.g. when sailing regattas with a crew or on a fishing trip with friends.
Premiums for Boat Personal Accident Insurance are calculated using flat-rate cover amounts. For example, cover with a maximum of €75,000 per person in the event of disability and a maximum of €37,500 per person in the event of death costs around €37 per year.
No, Personal Accident Insurance is only available as a supplement to comprehensive and/or Third Party Liability Insurance. You can add it as an additional product in the quotation form.
